Yes I have. I know it's a good lure, but it didn't work for me down here. Dad sent me a pint of it years ago saying I needed to try it. I did, and used almost half of it without catching a beaver on it. I tested it with no eye appeal, just some on a stick in front of a trap. Like I said, I know it's a good lure, it just didn't work for me down here.

No kidding ....must be a whole nuthah ball game down south ..

Oil sacs work. I'm saving all my sacs after milking them and building up the material to see what other animals I can catch with oil sacs as an ingredient. I'm not really a bait maker at all, but in my attempt to catch this setshy females pups I removed her mammary glands, castor and oil sacs. Made each one of them a paste with glycol and vodka and preserved them. I wasn't sure the mammary gland material would hold even with the SB added but I had it out in the sun all day and no change in the smell or quality of the lure as far as I could tell..

I made a mixed bag of all three glands and added some oil.
One with just mammary glands and Castor
Then some mammary glands alone and the castor alone. And of course I have the remaining oil on it's own. I added lots of sets and even put up a cage to see what worked best on picking up the pups. Set a camera up on the bank so I can see what's left in the pond.

I caught another male in the same trap she was in the next day so now I know that I hadn't cleaned out all of the adults. They are just setshy now.

If you trap beaver long enough....you'll run into some that will make you pull your hair out!! Talking from experience.

Yeah you may be right. After the storm moved through I went to check traps and had to pull everything at the pond. Seems I didn't get to them quick enough and they have a hole in the dam. We got 3 inches of rain in about 2 hours this morning and a beaver built vent in the dam looked like this...

So I pulled the traps so the LO can put a stopper in themat dam before that pond starts to look like a couple of his other mud holes. Once it dries out a bit I'll return to get after those pups
