Problems man!
I’d take some advice if anyone wants to give any.
Engine went from running good, able to drive around the yard a bit and park it in the front for 30 mins. Then when I started it, it started fine and ran for a few seconds than seemed to lose power then shut off. I started it again and it ran very quiet as if it was low rpm’s then shut off after 5-10 seconds.
After about 10 restarts and it shutting down it finally won’t start again.
Problem didn’t end there!
I’ve cleaned many carburetors on many different small engines and am quite good at it…well, for bush fixes anyways lol. It’s Canada bro!
But this carb looks a smidge different than the ones I’m used to. I still went ahead and cleaned it and seen that one of the O rings has a knick in it. Well I’ll just turn it around and maybe it will be ok. LOL!
I put it back together and man there’s gas leaking out the bowl. Maybe if I quickly start the engine it will fix the leak. Haha! Nope! Nice try though dummy!
So I take the thing all apart again and realize the float needs to be aligned a certain way (male and female ends).
Ahhhh makes sense!
Put it back together, sweet no leaks! Try starting the engine, and it doesn’t even try to start. Almost as if there’s a dead battery.
Start taking stuff apart to get to the carb again and tons of gas pouring out the air filter. C’mon man!
Well when I took the carb apart the third time now, I got this white cover separated from the carb and found this second O ring on a part. Sweet, same size as the broken one. I’ll take this one and put it where the broken one is and put the broken O ring where this one is. That will solve my fuel issue leaking into my air filter!!! Ta Da!!
Got it put back together and the engine starts!! Puffing white smoke like CRAZY!!! Whole yard was like Cheech and Chong’s basement. Then the engine stalled. Started a few more times and ran about 10 seconds each time, then won’t start again.
No more gas in my air filter, but now I have gas in my oil. Like crazy!
I don’t know if these O rings prevent gas going into the oil and air filter, what do you guys think?
I went to a few places looking for new O rings and one place had something pretty close. Is close good enough?
Here’s a pic of them side by side.
Do you guys think that knick in the O ring is what’s causing the problem?
I haven’t tried the new O ring I was given yet. Didn’t want to put it all back together for it to flood my oil with gas again. Hoping I can get some proper O rings ordered tomorrow once I give them the model # of my lawn mower.
The dealer I bought the lawn mower from couldn’t help me other than sell me a new carburetor for $320. I just couldn’t do that. Mentally, not financially.
Maybe a bit of humour for you guys.
I ain’t laughin’ though.
Thanks!
