Seems to be an over abundance of snakes this year. A bunch of campers had to move out of one of the mississippi campgrounds due to snakes... I suppose the whole river meadows being flooded concentrated the snakes on the nearest high ground...

Never heard of them in the attic... That's creepy....

Oh for crying out loud! If they are not doing any physical damage, ignore them.

I would rather have a rabid grizzly bear that is high on Angel Dust in the garage than a single snake!

I have nothing clever to put here.

The good thing about snakes is you won’t have squirrels or rats in the attic. If they’re garter snakes I’d leave’em be. They won’t hurt you. Be better if you had some King Snakes around.

I tolerate the -30 below zero just because that keeps the rats and snakes away.

Are y’all really that “worried” ,notice I didn’t say “afraid” of snakes? Down here they are way down the list of things to worry about. Hogs, Gators, those huge banana spiders (only because they bring out the Brice Lee in me), wasps, yellow jackets, then maybe snakes.

All snakes climb well. I have had several jobs over the years with black and garter snakes both in attics.

Most of the problem houses had siding on the exterior. Even the smaller length snakes like garters can climb up the inside corners of the siding of the houses. This is where they can utilize tight climbing assistance points on their way up.

I have seen some climb gutters for support and get to the soffit and onto the roof. Then they can find opening in the design flaws of the home. Lots of birds nest in soffits with holes in them or pieces missing.

Snakes with some experience know this and climb gutters to get to the nest sites in the soffits, holes in the siding etc. Many get into the attics in the same manner.

160 I’m with you burn that baby to the ground! And I’m thinking if I show up and a snake like that one in Florida is in my house I’m reaching past the 410 for something with a little more bite!

Looks like he’s already at the door just open it and he’ll go right outside.

No it doesn't, it keeps them from flying. When the snakes go outside, circle the entire building with a rope. Snakes won't cross a rope.

Seriously, surely there must be a food source (insects) they are after this time of year. Seems early for snakes to start denning. I would think if you sprayed for insects the snakes wouldn't have a food source any more??????

I used corrugated plastic cut to fit under a 2 ft plastic gutter . Taped one side with duct tape
Then ripped duct tape thin and added Rat grade Glue boards on the bottom under the gutter.

47 Garter snakes caught inside a basement on 3 traps / one was up on a rafter.

Spray snakes and trap with cooking oil spray afterwards down by a river or elsewhere and All the snakes will become unglued and crawl away.

It works and is cheap.

Back when it was legal, I would hit up all the denning sites I knew, starting in late February and fill pillow cases with garter snakes, that I sold for $5.00 to $8.00 each into pet slavery to the pet stores.
