I have never seen a blue jay, but on the west coast we have a lot of Steller jays, most people don't know any better and call them blue jays.

I'm just curious; Steller jays are a mean and rather nasty bird, with a raspy and obnoxious call. Are blue jays similar?

Blue Jays are a nasty tempered nest robber and obnoxious call. Never saw or heard one sing.

They surely warn you when something is on the move. I like hearing them when in the stand bow hunting.

If I am deer hunting and I here a couple of blue jays start making a ruckus I pay close attention to what is going on in the woods around me .Thet are a beautiful bird but like others said they are nest robbers and very aggressive towards other birds
