What are your thoughts on Paul Chryst being fired?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

First thought was "are you kidding?". I can only think that Chryst was ready to retire and Leonhard was offered a different job so they had to move fast to keep Leonhard. There has to be more to this story. Chryst has been a great coach at WI for over 7 years. I wish him well.

Not a big football fan or follower but that doesn't seem right. He's a heck of a lot better than Kirk ferentz at Iowa and he manages to keep his job along with his son. Chryst hasn't blown many games or had the coaching mistakes that a lot of other coaches have. I'm sure he'll get hired elsewhere.

I don't know much about it but my first question was, if they just gave him a 5 year contract extension , how much of that do they have to pay with terminating him half , the next year , 2/3 .
is he riding a golden parachute?

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Here is a quote from the article I read. "McIntosh declined to provide specifics of Chryst’s buyout.

“What I can tell you today is that the number that we agreed to is significantly less than the number that have been reported, or even the number that would have been due per the terms of his contract,” McIntosh said."

Chryst to me was a good coach and person but there are many ways to look into this and those closer to the issue have the say or are forced to make choices. We have heard a lot for years and even this year about the strong and good Badger defense and I feel that Leanhard is a good coach but a defense that gives up over 80 points in two games to me has issues and I hope that improvement they are looking for takes place. On the other or down side if Leanhard was looked at as being a prime head coach at a well known division 1 school and the rest of this year does not improve his options will most likely go down hill as well.

I don't follow Wisconsin too much but it seems the narrative for their football team is a run heavy offense and a stout defense. It never really changes much year to year. I think the game has passed Chryst by. You need to have a well balanced attack and when the running game isn't getting it done, you need to have an efficient passing game which Wisconsin never seems to have. With Wisconsin's plodding offense, if they get behind by more than a touchdown, it is hard for them to come back.

Happy! He was an aging dinosaur in today's style of play.
