I agree with what was mentioned about the amount of acreage necessary to power this country with solar. Would be nothing left.
As for wind. How would it be much better. Ever notice how much area one wind turbine takes up?

As for EV’s. I’ve seen reports that replacement batteries run in excess of $10,000. Read a report of a 2014 electric cars battery replacement cost $14,000.
So while you save on gas on the front end you’d have to bank a lot of the savings or get hit with a $10,000 charge.
People may say I’ll just sell it before the battery fails. Admittedly this may work right now. But in a few years people will learn to stay away from used EV’s to avoid buying a new battery. That may make it very hard to sell used EV’s.
In 25 to 50 years we may have better technology. We are not there yet

Another thought on solar panels and possibly wind turbines.
Lets say Florida was powered by wind and solar.
What kind of shape would they be in after a hurricane like Ian??
Would be no solar panels left!!

This wont ever happen...unless there is a mass reduction in the human population. The engine in my 2004 F350 6.0 Powerstroke Diesel would cost me over $10k to replace and it has 250k miles, it's very comparable in terms of cost, but we shall see how long the batteries last. I have a 10 year warranty, so we will see.
