I've shot the M249. Interesting gun.

If ya got about $8k + lying around , there is a civilian version available. The M249s. The 's' stands for semi-auto only. Unable to be converted to full-auto. Mfg by FN. One of the few belt fed rifles for sale without a NFA $200 tax stamp.

The one that I let get away and have always regretted it was a muzzle loading rifle/shotgun over under that my uncle sent home from Germany in WWII it was octagon barrels, fully engraved with loads of inlayed silver. Stock was ornately carved and had a cheek piece that looked more like a schuetzen. When he had his auction, it sold for $375, but in those years it might as well have been $3500.

I HAD a Winchester 101 o/u in 3" . In my collection of dumb things I've done, I traded it in for a Browning 12 gauge . I like the Browning, but I should have kept the 101 and bought the Browning outright.

I love all of my guns. But i am most fond of my pre 64 winchester model 70 .22 hornet and my 2 Sako 94s 22 long rifles
