Didn't see any antlers. All bulls? No stink? Any fat? You only brought one sled? Good eating, wish we had some bou meat!

Gas can busted in my other sled. Good thing actually as chain stretched on Voyager. Lynx not built for pulling in deep snow. I might buy a bigger lug track for it next year.
Horns fell off. All bulls. Some fat.

There was some busy wolves at the beginning of my trapline. I may have to set some snares and traps. I have been dropping off the bones and cut off prices for them on the way up.

Good luck on the wolves!

In boat big hides for what? Dried to use as wind breaks? Throw on floor for not slippery? Way way back in the day used to be caribou skin canoes.

Just for mattress for the little guy. They are really warm. Good to have a hide in your sled also they are lite and can be used to sit on while you cook to fire or fish. Keep your butt off the snow and warm. Caribou skin pants are supper warm but they shed so much you have to keep them outside. Be nice to have a pair made one of these days. I should learn to sew probably make a really good video.

I met a local from Point Hope working on the North slope when I was younger. He wore a caribou skin parka and polar bear britches. They were awesome but like you said, the caribou continually sheds. I used to keep all my hides when I hunted caribou and get them tanned. They would shed if you just looked at them. I ended up giving them all away. They are great insulation on the tent floor though. Yours just have a different look to them, more white than ours.

I seen a couple boys on Facebook from Kaktovik got polar bear pants for Christmas they looked good. About all you can do with polar bear hides now.
My dad had caribou pants and parka when he first came up. But he was trapping on the Barrenlands with the Cree them days. Switched to duffel after he met my Mom. She grew up in residential school because her dad drowned crossing the Mackenzie River and it started breaking up. So she never learned to work with hides. She did make moccasins out of caribou legs but had to get them tanned. Iuse to ware the moose hide out of them things every month plying road hockey. wore the bottom out of a couple pair of cowboy boots also. Them boots could really slide.

Caribou skin to sleep on is the best thing to have winter camping, I had a tanned one used it always at camp. They dont shed as bad if you get them in early winter, by the end of December they are shedding. I saw a guy that had a caribou skin seat cover on his snowmachine looked comfy.

My buddy here had a pair of lap boots made, they were cool boots all caribou fur and they used the swirl of fur on the brisket for the bottoms for traction.

Ok the boat threw me off. Got my own caribou skins for sleeping on in canvas tent, with wood stove, for in the winter. You gotta lay against the flow of the hair or you be slipping down the skin all night.

One time the zipper on my skipants ripped open. Good thing I had a roll of duct tape in my bag. Taped a piece of caribou hide around my leg and I was totally comfortable.
