My condolences to you and you're family Ryan and Fiona on the loss of Louisa she sounds like a truly great and unique person that we all should try to be more like her and may she rest in peace .

Wolverine was caught by the neck. Snare had a Thompson lock which I rarely use. Lock ended up on the bottom of the neck rather than the top.

Pretty sure you're the only spot in North America that is complaining about too much snow this winter. I've already went through one set of skis on my snowmobile, Same here but I’m still on quad, need more snow to cross all the dams & swamp to get to the full line. Good to see you’re back in action Ryan, hope you’re doing well. I had a chew out this weekend, three wolves were dead in the rams but the biggest one musta used his side cutter back teeth to snip. He fought for a while though. There was also no way to get tangled up either, just bull rushes around. Wonder if that was a factor?
Wind Blew, crap flew, out came the line crew

Congrats on the wolves SJ. Nothing to get tangled up in might've been a factor for sure for the one that chewed out. I have had good results using an extension and a whammy on my snares. The extension let's them take off running and gets a good tight hook up when the slack runs out. Then they usually wrap around a tree or Willows and there isn't much sign of struggle. Type of lock, placement of catch, and amount of initial panic could also be factors when using snares.

In certain drifted sections of my line my elevated sets are almost level with the top of the snow. I usually set them around 5 feet high. I'm glad we opened the trail again and fixed up all the wolf and wolverine gear yesterday. Temperature is dropping this morning and we would've been risking frozen faces and hypothermia breaking trail in the cold weather. Even -20c was a lil cool once you start sweating. Supposed to see mid 30s this week. Good to know the 750s are waiting nice and crisp right now even though the wolves haven't showed up in a few weeks. Forgot to mention we picked up a big lynx in a wolf set too.
