Back from the camp. Checked a couple lakes and didn’t see any rat push-ups. Other lakes were flooded. Still had a good time with my son

You and your son had a nice run of rats last year.

Not sure about Ryan but some of the Cree Bands here fund programs that fly harvesters out to their remote hunting camps on the Bay.
Spring goose hunt is a big thing here,Pretty much everything shuts down for the spring goose hunt, kids out of school to go etc.
Bands fund their trappers and moose hunters also to help with fuel, building materials for camps etc.
Lots of programa available just have to apply.

Picking us up. Once the water takes over its the only guaranteed way youre going to make it home. we never get checked on whether its hunting, fishing or trapping. Luckily most of us dont abuse that freedom but there are always a few that do unfortunately.

Yessir Pete. Some good eating this past 3 weeks for sure. We didnt waste any money on meat and groceries this year. Took the basics and ate what we hunted. Sure was nice to come home to caesar salad, hot wings and pizza after eating geese and spuds every day.

No free flights for us here Boco. Other bands to the south (Sahtu Region) do that. we do get some other forms of help if we apply like you mentioned but chopper time isnt included in that. I consider it money well spent though as spring hunt comes once a year. Im probably flying back out to the camp on Saturday for 3 more nights. Probably takes 3 wolves to pay for that but luckily i have 7 in my warehouse.

Once Im done with birds its on to rats but i think it will be a short window for good rats this year. strange spring we've got going on here in 2024

He’s probably got a few more zeros in his account yup but I do fly in a better chopper. A-STAR will carry at least 100 more geese than the long ranger. I’d be interested in what kind of shotgun he shoots.

the owner of Prairie heli's Derek and Buff are just doing a little Lake Winnipeg tour of ice fishing, it is the only way he could catch up to Derek Helm who was out in his Snow Bear before a game in Winnipeg

I prefer them yes. The snow geese outnumber the speckle bellies for sure but when the main run is going you can get a load of them. I like snows too but i just prefer the specks for taste and they are easier to pluck as well.

I put a cross brace on the trailer and somehow pulled it out vs sliding deeper, and he made his game on time.

Good for him. He was a beast on the ice, threw some epic hits. He used to drive my team nuts when he played for the Blackhawks. Glad he's doing well.
