I won't tell you what he paid me but I knew the market is BAD and my fur was green but I was PLEASANTLY surprised by what he paid. He has unique markets I guess and I have never heard a complaint about what he is paying as long as people are realistic about the current market.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Always suspicious when trappers don't come clean on the prices they achieved and averages they received. If a trapper has to travel long distances to market their fur, it is nice to have some info on potential prices so they can gauge whether or not it's cost effective to make a run to sell fur. w

I think the reason people hesitate to share their prices is because the second guessing always follows. That's my reason anyways.

This is how I feel about it also. A starting point for pricing is an honest way to do business for anything.

Walleyed, I can tell you that you won’t want to drive to MN from NY at the prices he is paying

I think it's hard for fur buyers to post prices because in the current fur market, the profit margins are so small that they can't. For example, ten years ago he may have been able to post a breakdown of muskrats at $12, $10, $7, $2. If a guy came in with nice rats, maybe he averages $10.50. The seller is thrilled with prices and the buyer can still make $3.00 per rat. He may be able to offer a loyal seller with nice rats an extra buck or two. Nowadays, the breakdown is $3, $2, $1, $0.50. The seller is upset because he averages $1.75 on his rats and the fur buyer only has a profit margin of maybe $0.50 per rat. There isn't much wiggle room for that fur buyer to offer more regardless of how nice or poor those rats are. I can imagine it's difficult for a buyer to advertise prices when when he has to account for such small profit margins.

Walleyed, I can tell you that you won’t want to drive to MN from NY at the prices he is paying LOL MNEric, I wasn't contemplating making the run. My fur is either sold or on it's way to North Bay,Ontario, Canada. I was just weighing in on trappers helping trappers by promoting greater transparency on fur prices & averages. It can't hurt the fur Industry for trappers to have the most up to date information available when deciding when & how to market their fur. w

I think the reason people hesitate to share their prices is because the second guessing always follows. That's my reason anyways. I am reluctant to post what I was paid for my SMALL lot of green fur because I feel I was overpaid and don't want to get everyone's hopes up. I have sold to Matt most years since he opened because he is only 15 miles away. Prior to that I shipped to NAFA or sold to Jason Wiebke and was very happy with both. I have ALWAYS felt that I have got the "Friends and Family" price but maybe that is what everyone gets. If you are curious on prices, call, text or PM Matt. I can't speak as to what he is paying. I just wanted to share his upcoming pickup schedule.
I have nothing clever to put here.

The first time you put this up there were some later dates also. Do you know if those are still on? To the best of my knowledge they are still on. Give Matt a call and ask would be my advice.

I have been laid up with surgeries the past 2 seasons but prior to that I sold my fur to Matt. I can tell you he is honest, friendly and professional. I really like that he is a young man (but compared to my old age everyone is young) and he is sticking with fur buying even though we are going through trying times with a down market. Also, he is a man of his word. I really am reluctant to endorse people but in the case with Matt i will endorse him. Give him a chance, I really believe you will be happy.
