Hey! The House Leader said you’re not supposed to politicize this… "The PM did not meet him. I am deeply troubled this happened. I urge MPs to avoid politicizing this incident," she said in a statement on social media.

Do the math. The guy is 98 years old. WWIi ended in 1945. He would have been 20 when the war ended. You don't think it's possible that he did good things in his life in the next 78 years after being a Nazi?
Do you think a young man his age in Germany had any real choice about being a Nazi late in the war?
We brought 1600 plus Nazi scientists back to the US after WWII, who made our country better. Should we have just executed them?

Have to use other methods and news sources to find the truth these days. Seems like not every Canadian is as hoodwinked as the US. Sure wish this would have happened on US soil when Zelensky and Biden were at the UN.

Nice try.
A blog by an association of its veterans, called “Combatant News” in Ukrainian, includes an autobiographical entry by a Yaroslav Hunka that says he volunteered to join the division in 1943 and several photographs of him during the war. The captions say the pictures show Hunka during SS artillery training in Munich in December 1943 and in Neuhammer, Poland, the site of Himmler’s visit.
In posts to the blog dated 2011 and 2010, Hunka describes 1941 to 1943 as the happiest years of his life
Formed in 1943, SS Galichina was comprised of Ukrainians from the Galicia region in the western part of the country. It was armed and trained by Hitler's Nazis and commanded by German officers. The next year, the division received a visit from SS head Heinrich Himmler, who had high praise for the unit's effectiveness at slaughtering Poles.
The SS Galichina subunits were responsible for the Huta Pieniacka massacre, in which they burned 500 to 1,000 Polish villagers alive. In fact, during the Nuremberg Trials, the Waffen-SS was declared to be a criminal organization responsible for mass atrocities.

You're being entirely too rational.

Buttcrack, do you ever do your own research or knee jerk rationalize against anything said?
Look it up. This 98 year old has his war record documented and he's one of the bad guys. Just not bad enough or more appropriately high ranking enough to have earned a seat at Nuremberg. You know one of the many thousands of murderous butchers. One that undoubtedly would have had a very short interogation by the NKVD before becoming one of thousands who disappeared if he hadn't made it to the west.

Tax Cheat, maybe he repented. I read about that option here occasionally.
So stop being such a drama queen.

Nice try? So what? In 1941 he would be 16. In 1943 he would only be 18. In 1945 he was 20. Do you seriously believe that the other 78 years he lived well don't count for anything. People change, he obviously did for the better.
The last Pope Benedict XVI was in the Hitler Youth, he obviously changed.
I hate trudeau and I am ambivalent towards Zelensky, but i can't hold this against them.

They are not celebrating his 78 years after they are celebrating his time when he was a Nazi, your argument is moot.
Trudeau and Zelensky, who is Jewish, most definitely did not celebrate him being a Nazi. Why would you even think that?
Keith
They're using him for their propaganda. He's 98 , and more than likely, doesn't know what's going on. I don't like communism , any more than any true American. But I'm fed up with the propaganda and the false news being the main news ! Do you know that in Europe the only news they get is CNN ? Maybe it's just my brother that can't get other news sources. I can't say for sure.
We have met the enemy and the enemy is us!

Europe gets an enormous number of news programs, not just CNN. You need way better sources of information and less gullibility.
Sadly and embarrassingly, some less honorable people on our conservative side put out crap information. We need to drum them out. They make us look very bad to thinking people.

So, does that mean all the other Nazis that were found, tried, convicted, and died in prison or were executed deserve an apology? Even years later?
