Loose skin all over his body, probably lost much of his muscle mass due to age. Hocks have no sign of activity even though its a month out, but are not even dark from last year.

Brisket is way too big and fatty for a middle age dear, usually when brisket sticks out like that and wiggles is clear sign of some age. Pic with head up in the air, definitely looks like an old deer to me.

If you don't shoot him, watch him and see if he loses weight or gets black hocks in about 3 weeks. I'm going to bet he don't.

That is an older buck for sure. Chancey describes it perfectly.

He is older than 6.5.....

2.5 to 3.5. I doubt its over 4.5. He doesn't have a swayed back; neck doesn't meet chest at the brisket; shoulders are smaller than the hams. If you really wanna know, email it to Grant Woods. He'll tell you. If you need his email, PM me.

My best guess would be 4.5-5.5 from the features I see.

Age this buck.

Deer are just like people. Some have good teeth, some have bad teeth. Some of them have teeth to keep up their health for years; much over 6 years old; some do not.

However, when they start getting old and teeth start wearing out, they tend to get smaller and frail and often look younger body wise than they are. Same as humans. Got to really look at the face and brisket in these situations. Also watch their behavior. If he's starting to camp out at a feeder or foodplot all the time and getting predictable, then its another good indication he's getting up in the years.

3.5 ? It’s hard to tell because of body size on southern deer , kind of like comparing a Wisconsin buck to southern part of Illinois. 4.5 tops ?

Deer is old. Shoot it and make jerky or sausage.

8 1/2 years old is my guess. Maybe even 9 1/2.

Judging from the pic.. I’d say likely born in 2020 under a waxing moon .. a Taurus and enjoys long walks in the foodplot
