I recently had to take down a huge maple tree in my yard. It had several big hollow limbs on it plus the main trunk is hollow. I am looking for ideas on something cool I can make out of them. The main trunk is 16 ft 3 inches in circumference. I also thought about trying to sell them but don't know if there is a market for something like that.

I've seen where taxidermists will mount a coon head looking out of a chunk of hollow log. Looks pretty neat.

They would be good for taxidermy. If you could cut slices out of the trunk it would make cool tables but not sure how to do that.

The single best bobcat set I ever had was a hollow log in a woodpile that someone had apparently cut but not loaded. It was along a small creek and the first year a partner and I netted 7, 6 the 2nd year. The landowner cleared a bunch of ground the 3rd year but I was always tempted to make some wood piles with a hollow chunk on the bottom and see what happened.
Not overly artistic I know but I have a trappers brain!

they used to sell them at one of the state parks for fires , get a jet of flame up the middle , now it seems all the wood is cut and wrapped kiln dried not from the park any longer

How could a person slice that trunk fairly evenly. I agree they would make great cat cubbies although it would be a pain to haul around.

I've got four geranium planters on my front deck. I think it was about four years before the bark started to separate. Still functional and just as much character

Like to stand them up in a bed of coals in the fire pit. Nice to sit back with a cooler of beer and watch the show
