Good stuff Rob and great gun!
Hitting muley country myself in a day or so with a 1949 first year Remington 721 in that worthless old .270 caliber. Saved from the back corner of a dungy old gun shop it now looks nearly as nice as yours. Tack driver. Youve given me inspiration.

That isn't what I use and don't care for the military style slings. These have a buckle that slides to adjust length. I just always have them cinched up and out of the way. You can adjust it with one hand.
I see H buckle not frogs not a lot of H buckle and leather out there I found this one from Turner https://turnersaddlery.com/ts/product/gp-tactical-sling/not sure why they call it a tactical sling but they call it that , I supposed because it has quick disconnect options which could just not be used. Maybe this will help. Different rifle but the same sling. I have them on nearly all my rifles and buy them as I find them.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Nice Buck Rob! Since you have a few of those old Winchesters now, you could weld three of them together to make a nice floor lamp! Weren’t those slings made in Texas under the Bucheimer name, or something like that???

Maybe this will help. Different rifle but the same sling. I have them on nearly all my rifles and buy them as I find them. this looks to be a remake of that , not sure who made the originals you have.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
