Can zinc valerate be used in a beaver castor formula to increase the staying power of the lure? And will it change the the smell of the lure?

ZV seems to be something few use or talk about. I’m playing with the first of it I’ve used in some cat gland.

ZV from my experience is primarily used as a preservative that is suppose increase the attraction of glands. I've used it and can't smell any change in the product with my nose which doesn't mean anything.

Considering castor doesn't need preservatived and your looking to increase the staying power I'd assume zv isn't the product your looking for. Sounds like your looking more for a fixative which castor is a moderate one unto itself. I'm sure there is ways to increase the odor or staying power of castor but since it's a pretty strong and lasting odor itself most don't feel the need to fix it and anyone that does know how is liked to keep it a secret.

Sometimes one just has to do some experimenting themselves

Wiley Carroll mentioned it often in his articles in the old Trapper magazines and in his cat book some.
