Just finished my shopping. I'm terrible in letting the missus buy for everyone. I never know what I got anyone until they open it in front of me on Christmas day, lol. That leaves me just buying for her and buying the food.

Got country ham for Sunday at the church. Country ham and red eye gravy and sausage gravy. Then Monday it's the big breakfast. Grits, sausage two kinds, sausage gravy, ham and red eye, pancakes, bacon. The missus makes the biscuits and I supply the honey and cane syrup.
Thursday I got collards and blackeyed peas and rice for a club party.
And gathering the makings for my New Years meal.

I'm already loosening my belt, lol.

Dinner this year will actually be served as a 4 course dinner if I can pull it off for 16 people ( 9 adults and 7 grandkids 13-5 ):

1st course
French onion soup or the olive garden soup ( the one with potatoes and kale and sausage )

second course
shrimp cocktail

third course
spinach salad with a warm bacon mustard dressing with garlic bread

forth course
smoked rib roast
baked potato
baked beans (maybe)
broccoli casserole
roasted brussels sprouts with bacon and balsamic

fifth course
dessert but I'm not making it

we will have deviled eggs and a meat /cheese tray out prior maybe a spinach dip too.

Add a plate, I'm on my way lol. That sounds great. Zuppa Toscano is the olive garden soup. I make it myself.

Warrior, swing by Tx and grab o'l leftlane on your way and we can fish some too.

Id do French onion but trying to get it correct and not everyone likes it so.

I'm doing a second dinner on Christmas day for my lady and her kids that won't get here for Saturday. Duck breasts and wild mushroom risotto with asparagus.

Sad that people won't use the holiday as an excuse to add some extra joy to your life. You'll still go through the holidays, just without the joy. frown

Hate it with a passion for the commercial circus it has become, but love it always for its origin.

Clean it with her toothbrush, then maybe she'll clean it herself next time.

If you need any more marriage advice just let me know.

Are you saying he isn't real?

I have nothing clever to put here.

Wouldn't it make more sense to clean it AFTER they leave?

Yes, that sounds like a joy and something to really look forward to. I don't miss those days. Everyone is stressed out to the max and the real joy is when it is over, the house is cleaned and the bomb crater that company left is dealt with.

I'm certainly not one of them, but some women actually enjoy cleaning. (Don't ask me why).

Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

I clean out of necessity, not because I have a love affair with it. I just don't like a dirty house.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas. We’ll have some friends and family stop by on Christmas Eve, snacks, beverages. Christmas Day my mom is making lasagna for my wife’s family and my side. My wife loves Christmas, and decorating for it. I love spending time with family. Here’s our tree this year. [Linked Image]
