Not anymore. Your bait and lure odor is now in that water & mud and all over that trap.

Worst case scenario are caused by those flooding rains or sets made in low areas. You'll be able to smell which lure you used at that set everytime you handle that trap...

Same here, rained for 3 days. Looks like a good stretch of weather starting tomorrow though. Hopefully get some sets relured / baited and put out some new sets.

I question the trap smelling any different than the ground around it?
The scent would be spread out almost like a remake after a catch.

That is my take on it. Wouldn’t use that trap anywhere else without cleaning it, but it shouldn’t stand out in that location as far as scent.
