I was all excited to read about this. The first article that came up was Wikipedia. What a buzz kill!
Abandonment After the construction of Alaska Route 1, the town (along with others) was abandoned in favor of towns along the opposite edge of the Kenai Peninsula which were accessible to the highway and therefore mainland Alaska.[5] Although stories surrounding the town's abandonment circulated in the 2000's involving the local forest being Nantiinaq (sometimes aligned with Bigfoot), these were later reported to be fabricated.[5] The town's post office officially closed between 1950 and 1951.[1][6]
I have nothing clever to put here.

It’s a beautiful place. September sunrise at Port Chatham/Portlock Closest I ever got was Homer. I love that place. Shoot! The closest I ever got was Portland but my checkbook did make it to AK 10 years ago when I got divorced.
I have nothing clever to put here.
