Located in Wisconsin. Have preference points built up and will be putting in for a fisher tag and bobcat tag next season. Is it worth it to scout heavy this far in advance? Or should I not even bother? I am planning on really looking for sign of both now that we have snow on the ground. Also, I have one fisher that I got on a cell cam once this year. Will that same animal use that area for a few years? Worth it to swing back through there next season and throw a few sets there?

I have very little experience pursuing both of those critters but I can say that the last two years I have seen sign of both in the same areas. If nothing else getting out and scouting will give you a very good idea next year where to start. Especially if we have another winter like this where there is no snow to aid in finding tracks.

For fisher in my area, if you see where they are traveling then it’s a good bet they will be using that area again next year. So any scouting you can do now will hopefully pay off for you next season.

Scout early/often as possible. Then make a plan.
Following tracks in snow right now, you will learn alot about the animal. SEE what you are LOOKING at.
Get out there.

This year we had no snow to find sign for fisher. So set my sets were in areas that always has fisher sign. Some areas are just natural travel corridors for all animals.

Number one rule of trapping: Always set on sign. Find it now most likely there next year. Scouting never hurts, just learn more.
Inch of fresh snow found, bobcat, fisher, coyote and bear tracks this morning.

Awesome, thanks for the replies. Thats what Inwas assuming that if im able to locate some animals this winter that it would at least be a good place to start next season and that the fisher and cats would most likely be using that area still. Scouted this morning and was super excited to find really my first ever bobcat tracks in a pretty awesome location
