Be at the auction. Duane will take two bids slam the hammer down and say "SOLD". A week later it's in his store at two to three times the price. Been there seen it.

The ivory tusk weighs more than 50 pounds and has been buried for an estimated 10,000 to 100,000 years.

Now we know where the one that got away from White went.

There are known places in Alaska that people hunt for Ivory and bones. I've seen stacks of mastodon tusks, tho mostly broken, in a Seward Peninsula village. Another is a frozen sand bluff on the Yukon R. It is locally called the boneyards.

It would but then it would depend on what state and what their laws about minerals are and who owns the right, here in Minnesota most mineral rights for the majority of property are owned by the government, so if you found gold on your farm they could go in or lease those right to someone else and leave you out in the cold, and might not even be liable for damage and destruction of your property

So if it was me and Found gold or other valuables I would quietly mine it and say I got it or found it somewhere else

After years of environmental impact studies and Indian protests, mining would be denied.

They found a full mammoth excavating for a new alley worth of pens at a feed yard I used to work at in Kansas. It shut the project for 3 years and to listen to the manager it would be the last time he did the right thing and reported any such thing.

No. Old stuff, walrus, mastodon can be harvested and sold by anyone. Only stickler is land ownership. Items found on govt. land technically belong to the govt.
