I Love letting older Traps come out to Play... smile

A set that's a little labor intensive - but Fun. Vertical Dead pole- two dead pieces lashed and frapped with wire to make two shelves for 2 - 14's Green popple bait wired above . Put in the ice hole - Add a cross pole above ice and wait.
This one hit the set soon after putting it in because it broke the main Vertically pole and took it down under. Good thing I cable above Ice & down to both 14 jump Traps.

Not to steal away from your thread but I've been trying to trap under ice beaver for a week or so now and haven't caught anything. I'm using some baited 330's, I can't find the runs. What would you recommend I go to?

I'll build another pole today

I'm trying to show Barrett different sets that can be put together out on the line with wire .

I'll build a new pole because the thrashing beaver trashed the one vertical it was caught on.

Nice to see the old traps getting some exercise. Looks like a great time for you and the young man.

The new built set is shorter because of where it's going in the creek between dam and bank hole lodge.[Linked Image]

*** I changed out the old j hook and original chain & used mb crunchproof swivels ...Very important to hook traps under ice up to a main cable or good wire running up to a X cross stickabove ice.also bot traps are tagged but also a tag above ice.

Hard to think that was the go-to beaver trap before 330's hit the mark

is it just the light or is that a noir beaver
(noir is used to get around profanity filter)

It's sure fun to experiment with those old sets. When I was a kid, that's the only way we trapped beaver under the ice. There was a lot of trial and error going on back then with me.
I made a few poles for the #4 and 14 jumps but have not used them for a long time. They still sit in a corner in my garage. Maybe someday...

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!
