Same.
I'm considering painting all of them starting next year instead of dying and waxing. I'm over the nostalgia. Even your coil springs?

Keep your tub but get a bigger propane burner/cooker. You aint producing enough heat.
I use a cut in half 55 gallon drum.

Find a clean oil drum and a weed burner heat the barrel with the main flame and use the tip of the flame to heat your wax if your waxing those traps.

Yup 1/2 a drum works great. I add a dozen traps wired together about every 10 min. I can get 4 to 6 dozen in with the wires hooked to the rim. Then when I get around to the start I can pull out one and add another takes a day to dye all of them but I usually have a few friends over to hang out so it's a great time together. As stated painting is faster and lasts longer but for me it's a good excuse to talk with friends and we look forward to it every fall.

For my water traps I use rustoleum oil base primer and acetone mixed 50/50 and dip them a couple times. You have to keep it stirred up because it wants to settle. You don't have to worry about new traps having oil on them because it mixes with the oil base paint and acetone. You can keep it in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid to use the next time. For the 330's just pour it into a plastic tray with 4 or 5-inch sides large enough to lay the 330 in to coat it. This mix dries fast and you can add more paint and acetone as needed. It works fine on canine traps too.

I know a lot of you may be using the speed dip methods that mix with gasoline. But I always used the logwood crystals. I have a galvanized tub I used to use over a fire. Then I used a little camp stove and a big stock pot but that took a long time, even for half a dozen traps. I’m thinking of getting a turkey fryer setup but I’d like to still use my galvanized tub because I have some 330s I’d like to dye and they won’t fit in the Turkey pot. Anyone know of any setups that would accommodate that? What do you all use??? I use a fish fryer burner and turkey pot a lot quicker than building a fire

Take a Saturday in the late summer and maybe get the charcoal grill going with some chicken wings! Enjoy a few beers and go about it leisurely. I always took pride in the deep blue black the traps turned out. Packed them away in clean cardboard boxes cause I still can’t break away from the old scent superstition!!

I'd just spray paint them. I have been doing this for years to all my traps. You make a catch put the trap aside and repaint it in the spring. body grippers seem to last longer because it doesn't get worked over like a foorhold.

I have a double burner outdoor/turkey fryer stove that works good. I used to use a galvanized pot until it started leaking like the iraqi navy. Now I use half of a 55 gallon drum. A fire pit with cement blocks to set the drum on works too. I use the wood fire for boiling/dying but never waxing. Too hard to control the temperature.
