Not being able to store the energy in amounts worthwhile and the low energy density of sunlight ( wattage per on a given area ) is the killer for these systems in large scale applications. The best thing to do is just use less energy.

When I see the multitude of just electric kitchen gadgets, it makes my skin crawl. Stuff like electric can openers and other such nonsense comes to mind electric shutters and blinds and a whole host of other things.

Let's go Brandon

"Shall not comply" with morons who don't understand "shall not infringe."

Here are a couple solor panel fields south of Phoenix where I used to predator, dove and quail hunt.

I'm no biologist, but I can tell you there is no wildlife living there now. I just wish all the renewable energy environmentalists would visit the sites. Imagine a country covered in solor panels.

I no a guy who works at a nearby power plant in Minnesota. They just shut down one of their coal fired generators on Jan 1 and will be replacing it with 3500 acres of solar panels. He showed me a website on his phone that shows real time power production for a group of 13 or so states that make up the MISO district. The link below breaks down what kind of fuel is currently being used to produce power. You can put your cursor on the different fuel sources on the pie chart and it will show what % of the current fuel is being used. He said solar, which is the yellow sliver on the pie chart is almost never even visible. Thus producing very little power whatsoever. Naturally, coal and natural gas are almost always the top two producers. Surprisingly, wind power is normally right up there in the top three and and a lot of times #2. I think on a windy day they cut back on coal and NG, which makes sense. Take a look at the link below. There is a lot of stuff on the site I dont understand, but the current pie chart is interesting.
