Usually snare wolves and not a fan of traps and not interested in buying any wolf traps. The odd time though there is no/nil place for snares. Friend has a #4 Jake coyote trap he does not use and can give me. Fairly substantial trap on first look.

Opinions on #4 Jake trap for wolf?

Id think if you get a solid foot placement inside the jaws with little to no snow it’s stuck. If its foot is off center at all stepping in it is going to become an educated wolf. The traps are very solid.

They are a good solid trap and I think they would hold a wolf if it got its foot in one. They are as strong or stronger than MB750 and Bridger #5's and those have caught a number of wolves over the years.

Thank you for the replies. Conclude a little small for consistent good foot placement but still a good wolf trap for holding ability if well centered foot catch.
