Last few boat I've been on I've taken the time to watch the birds a good bit. Noticed that would swarm around the prob wash in certain areas . Some docks and location they don't care others their there from sun up to sun down. After watching them enough I saw they where cathing shrimp ! Also some small fish but mainly shrimp! They would just fly about three from from the weather and dive down real quick and come up with one back to back. So this got me curious. Y'all reckon a guy could use this to catch some shrimp? Was thinking you could rig up some kinda net deal where you have say a pole with floats, mabye 5-6' long and have a net sock type deal ( guess a trawl would be the right term?) Kinda like a up side down fyke under it , would have to rig it and weight it just right so it's says open correctly, and just set so it drifts out into the prop wash. Would just sit there letting shrimp float in. Seems like it could work especially like right now when where just pushed in the bank lightly pushing against the barge to keep it in place but idk. Y'all ever don something like this ?

That would probably catch shrimp, but you are over-thinking it a bit, imo.

Just make something simple like a crawdad trap; a couple of cone shaped funnels into a mesh cage.

I think your mesh trap is to large in length and the size of holes in the netting. You need something workable.Probably a trap would work best.

Just use a cast net, and you can bait shrimp where you want them, make a dough bait mixed with cat food, dough bait sinks, shrimp congregate around it, toss net over spot....
Or, bait an eel pot like trap where you see them.

Cattle cubes work for bait also.

They use a wing net with a bag sewn in the back in La down in the marsh. When the water is running from whatever tide the shrimp hit the net and end up in the bag. Some folks catch a 1,000 pounds a night. They also use bright lights shining in front of the net
