Walk up slowly and quietly and spray raid right up in the entrance hole. If they are on a tree branch you can light them on fire with a torch of burning paper.

We're up here in Ohio getting the mother in law's house emptied and found this on the shed out back. How do you get rid of such a thing without subjecting oneself to injury? Go to the hole with a glass of gas and tap the nest they will all fall into the gas and die instantly. I will say if your gonna be stupid you gotta be tough because it's a stupid idea but works

Spray wasp spray at night....works here same let them go to sleep then soak it set an alarm for around 2 hours after dark and go soak them down with a head lamp and 2 cans of spray Yup....one in each hand...till it's empty

I know some guys like to use a shop vac that has a chopper blade to mince up the hornets. Or just go in a double fist a couple cans of hornet spray That's my method. I built a box that I plug the shop vacuum into. Where the hose comes in I set an expanded metal paint roller screen to catch the hornets and chew them up. If you move slowly you can put a ladder up right next to the nest and get within reach. Or you can tape the hose through a pole to reach the nest. Start at the entrance and work slowly so you don't get a cloud of them boiling out. Just vac up the guards then maybe a bump to get more coming out. Keep at it until you've got most all of them then knock the bottom off the get at the combs. Vac up what you find there. Kind of slow but it works and allows me to offer the service as a paying gig without having to get a PCO license.

now maybe we should ask
How does an EOD guy rig that for instant crush pressure?
I was never that good at nondestructive detonations. I usually liked to use more C-4 than was really necessary. The shed would be a casualty. Even a small flex linear shape charge would be too much.

A cool night or cool early morning you get them where you live. Sprayer ethah in that hole and they drop like rocks. The best thing I found for them yet.

Put your thumb over the hole and pull the nest off the building and put it in a large trash bag!!! Set the building on fire!!! Spray the nest at night with wasp and hornet spray and then again in the morning if you see any activity. There's 3 good options for you!!
