Ya’ll wanna hear something twilight zone weird?? I was going down the road and got a flat tire… sooooo, I went and jacked it up… started loosing the lug nuts and one rolled away… down the ditch and smack dab into a crawdad hole…. What are the odds of that? Soooo, I lucked out because I happened to have a spade and I started digging out the crawdad hole to retrieve the lug nut… I was digging down and bam!! There it was… so I thought,,, and nope!! It was wayyyy too big it was 2 sizes too big,, it looked like it off of a tractor… How is it possible that TWO entirely different lug nuts go down a random crawdad hole in the middle of nowhere on a country road? Oh, and btw… I never did find my original lug nut… I had to go buy a replacement. Absolutely strange!!! Y’all have anything crazy weird and unexplainable happen? —————————————————————- Pics added, as you can see… there’s a considerable size difference in the lug nuts.. And, the larger one is full of dirt and stuff. The lug nuts that I took off were very tight,,,so the big one wasn’t accidentally put on if that was the supposed lug that came off.

I’ll post the picture when I get a better Wi-Fi signal..and yup you’d logically would think it was the wrong nut that was on originally,,, but I clearly untighted the nut.. so it wasn’t 2 times too big… and the threads were caked full of mud

Years back l was making a castor mound set on the bank of the Chippewa river. Grabbing a handful of mud from one of the few silty spots along the shore, l felt something hard in the lump of muck. Turns out it was the baseplate and pan off what appeared to be an old longspring trap. The pan was half rusted off and no springs or jaws were attached. I looked through the mud for more parts but found none. Sure would like to know how old it was .

Loosen the lug nuts before jacking the car up. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. I think the moral to the story is to hold on to your nuts before the crawdads get them, lol.

Kind of like Muskrats story I was digging a spot out on a lakeshore bank for a 330 and dug up a silted in 330 with my brand from about 10 years earlier. But OP’s story tough to beat.
Kudos to foxpaw’s moral of the story!

So how come you didnt find the original lug nut if you seen it go into that hole where the other lugnut was?

My Son Bridger and I were beaver trapping on the Green River north of Pinedale Wyoming. I was standing on a beaver lodge and there was an old #3 longspring the beavers had dredged up off the bottom and put it on top of the lodge. I'd like to think it was old but it was off-set so not real old.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I had a redbone that wouldn't keep a collar on for nothing. I don't like to put them on tight as I want them to be able to slip them if they get hung up, but most dogs rarely lose one... this dog on the other hand wouldn't keep one on. So I'd just put the umpteenth collar on her, and a couple days later, she comes back without it. I was fresh out of collars, and I said screw it. Didn't bother to put another on her. Several days go by with her being collarless. Then one day I walk outside and there she is laying on the porch, with a collar on!??!
I asked Pete if he'd put one on her and he said no. At this point I think someone else must have had her and tried to keep her by putting a collar on her, so I go back outside and look and no, it's a collar with MY name and address on it. I'm completely baffled.
A week or two go by and I'm walking in the woods behind the house, and a beam of sun strikes something and makes it shine so I go to investigate. There's a hole in the ground, a den of some sort, and the sun is shining on something metal in the hole. I get down on my knees to peer into the hole, and see the sun is reflecting off a stainless steel buckle of a dog collar. The collar is wedged in the hole in an upright position, where, should a dog stick it's head in the hole, it would go through the collar. It finally dawned on me HOW the dog managed to put her own collar back on, but I still imagine it's a once in a lifetime occurrence.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

So how come you didnt find the original lug nut if you seen it go into that hole where the other lugnut was? Obviously the crawdad had it and wasn't parting with it. When I was a kid I used to dig for crawdads and they go really deep. Sometimes I could stick a weed down in there and feel him get a hold of it and once in a while get him but usually when he seen light or me he would let go. Probably the bigger nut didn't go all the way down and the smaller one did. Probably when the OP seen the bigger nut he thought he had it and then lost the other down the hole, before he figured there was two nuts. After all who would have thought of such. The wise crawdad probably thought the smaller nut being a more popular size would have more value at the tire shop. See ask complicated questions, get simple answers, lol.
