Picked up the new honda yesterday.
Just gotta get the insurance on today then take it for a spin around town.
It fits in the back of the pick up.
Will take it for a ride into the cabin soon.

Pretty cheap,I know the local dealer pretty good.
It was a new 2023 model so he knocked of 2g on the price from a 24 model.
Its a Pioneer 520 the smallest side by side they make-perfect for my needs.

Looks pretty nice. You'll need to post some pics of it in use during season.

It looks like you can get into tight spots with that machine.

I haven't been in a new one, know several people who have the older ones, good machine, only as wide as the big fourwheelers, so they fit a lot of places the bigger side by sides don't. I don't know about the new ones, but my complaint with the older ones was that my knees hit the dash in them, if I rode around in one too long I wouldn't be able to walk when I got out. Still if I was looking for a side by side rather than a fourwheeler, that is what I would be looking at first, second would be a used Arctic Cat Wildcat Trail, same width, but like so many other models, Textron discontinued them after they took over Arctic Cat.

Well I was riding it around a few trails around town here. The wife likes driving it.
True one reason I wanted the small one is that it will go most of the trails the rancher will, except because of its weight I wont take it in big muskeg.
It shifts hard because there is no belts-all shaft drive like all hondas.Took a bit of riding to get used of that.
Doesnt go real fast geared kind of low.Which is good for me in the bush. The little dump box is rated for 4oo lbs,a good days beaver run for me in the fall.
I may get larger wheels and mud type tires later on to get a bit more ground clearance-I will see how it performs first before I spend on that.Gotta get a rear view mirror too for riding in town.
Im sure it will handle up to 8 inches of snow no problem just like the bikes. After that I will have plenty for the skidoos.
I checked out a utube vid of one with the tracks on it,looked pretty impressive in deep snow. The guy said he had to add a diff lock for best performance with tracks in deep snow.I wont need them but could be good for some peoples traplines.
I got a few small muskeg holes on my camp trail so first ride in there will bring the chainsaw to lay down some corduroy.pretty sure thats all the trailwork I will need to do to accommodate the sxs.
Dealer put on the winch and windsheild which I asked for,and it already had the roof.Roof is easy to snap on and off.(5 snap lugs)
I may look at some canvas curtains for the doors and back where it is open for when I use it in late fall.We had those on the RR motor cars back in the day, they worked great to keep out the weather, should be easy to get some made for the sxs.

Nice machine. With crossing water and swamp holes I can see why you like the higher unit. To me it looks like it could be a bit top heavy with a narrower base. How does it handle and is most of your travel areas pretty even or level? I don't mean not hilly etc.

Will know in a couple weeks how it handles different terrain, doesnt seem top heavy or tippy, but only ran it on old logging roads so far havent tried it on bush trails yet.The bush trails are pretty rough in some places with all the tree roots etc.Pretty flat here except near creeks rivers etc where there are ravines etc.No real side hills to run.

Nice! Narrow for tighter trails and don’t need a football field to turn around.

Nice machine. Narrow wheelbase must be a big sell for those who don't want to trailer the machine. Next time I buy one I'm looking into Honda.
Have you had any problems in the past with the shaft drives?

I own two honda bikes, never had any issues with either bike on any parts,Just a couple rear seals for brake drum on the 94 last year.
I asked Doug the mechanic at the dealership(i worked with Doug for many years on the RR)About warranty work etc on the Hondas. They sell Honda,Brp, can am and a couple other brands. He told me he cant ever remember having to do any warranty work on a honda unlike the other makes they sell

got a p500 an we love it. other than being tippy on side hills it's a great rig. one thing to modify is the fuel tank breather hose it's located below seat level an if you do happen to cross a creek a lil deeper than you thought it will dilute fuel tank with water an leave ya sol. been there done that. put a hosebarb nipple on existing hose an run it higher up on the rollbar somewhere

That wasnt a problem,on the trx there is a button to push and hold the brake to shift into reverse.Been using the trx since 94 lol so you could say Im used to that function.
