We are going to start seeing, but maybe not recognizing, complete fake news showing people saying and doing things that never happened. It's a little scary and very dangerous.

Same with brushes or even modern art tools.

Thank you for posting a hint of what I was thinking about.

It's like a toddler arguing with a fighter pilot, the chasm of quality is so great between the two.

AI is brand new now. Like a baby it will grow and develop.

I'm worried about great artists like you and writers, like my niece, Elise, having a tough living selling their work in the future Real human created art may be better, but people without an artistic mind, might find AI good enough.

Nope, Keith. Never worry about the cherished value of the human mind in art and many other successes that is honed down through decades.

Ones who want quality, collectors, etc, will always understand the difference .

I would have kept quiet if the comments in such boorish repetition hadn't of kept whining on....after a while I had to correct the error.

Good art can even be accomplished without power or a computer....just ask Rembrandt ...and the rest of the masters

wink

I very much hope you are right. The obsolescence of great human artists would be terrible.

No worries. The men who drew the cave art bears, wuffs , mastodons and horses are still smiling ....

Seems to me that since.....at this point......AI can't feel human emotion......it also can't put that emotion into the "art" it is spitting out.......as opposed to creating. Can it really "create" a Mona Lisa smile ? It can copy and try to respond to verbal commands but it can't feel emotions the way a human artist can

The summary of the human mind and hand. Thank you, Sir Ken.

Again, I would have kept quiet if the comments in such boorish repetition hadn't of kept whining on....after a while I had to correct the error.

Swamp Wolf, if your hate remark is directed to me, because of a negative remark, you are mistaken, I don't hate it, I merely do not see it improving on any work done with regular camera's or hand work, it's simply radically different.

And your examples, if that is your work, are a real example of that fact, you have a very long way to go if you wish to claim
that work as a comparison to real photo or artistry by hand,

It's great art, but cannot compare to a real photograph of the same thing happening !

I believe that Sharon and White 17 have said it much more softly than I have though, LOL

HotpotAI does not grasp trapping. I wonder if it's because the lack of many pictures, because of the fear of antis using them

I asked it to show "Paul Dobbins trapping beaver."

I never said any of those AI pics are a work of art, but anyone with eyes that see about as well as mine can see that many (not all) of the AI wildlife pics are very good. In fact, some so good that I've never seen any artist recreate the subtleties in the habitat and background or even the details on some of the critters. And to be able to create pics in the terrain of my choice is great.

Are there artists that can do as great a job with the details...Yes, but they are few and far between. And to possess a print from some of them costs a lot more than running thru 2 or 3 dozen AI prompts to get a great pic....just like I want it to look. If it don't...I delete it.

What subtle details are missing in this pic of a coyote walking thru wet southern Georgia piney woods at night?

But tell me what about it doesn't look as good as any drawing or painting?

To me it looks better.

Find a flaw in that pic.

GritGuy,
I don’t know what the terrain looks like near Magna, Utah, but a howling AI coyote on a frosty night in the desert in Utah looks pretty darn good to me.
[Linked Image]

And a coon down here in wet swamps of southern Georgia...as photo quality as Bing would make it for me. I'd say that looks very good....almost real, huh?
