To put my question below into context, I have played around over the last several years making my own canine bait and have experienced measured success with at least 3 kind of meat bases with added solutions. With whole beaver carcasses, I notice that canines will eat out the liver area first or at least a majority of the time.

Not asking anyone to share their lure-making secrets, but has anyone had any luck with using ground and preserved beaver liver for a lure? I am thinking more of a paste consistency for ease of application...

Any additives to the liver that I should consider/test other than the preservatives?

Thank you in advance for any help and/or insight.

I've found that liver can mold fast, If you were going to preserve it, I'd be sure to use some methyl paraben. I make a liver based lure and preserved it pretty fresh to prevent the mold from doing its thing.

Thanks for the info! Mold was something that I hadn't considered an issue but I will definitely heed your advice...
