Since 1971, all I used. I did put a Williams peep on it and a firesite bead, next best thing to a scope. Used 170 corelokts for years, switched to 150 CL and liked them better, switched to Hornaday 160 gummy points and REALLY like them, hardly any tracking practice now.

I shoot a T/C contender handgun that's chambered for the 30-30AI. I shoot 30-30 ammo when I'm fireforming brass. I'm shooting a 125 gr Nosler BT bullets and with a charge of IMR 4198. I've only used it on few deer and antelope so I don't have to much experience it, but it is pretty impressive on them.

Dang Sarge how many deer can you take in S.C.? I am envious! I can legally take 11 here. 8 does, 3 bucks. I usually harvest 5-7. Last year only squeezed the trigger once for a nice 8 pointer. Only because I knew he was in the area. This year does hopefully will hit the ground during bow. Wait on another 8 or 10 that's in area. Then finish doe work after rut. This year I have a couple more folks that need the meat. So, hopefully my bow and rifles get a workout. Sarge

I was looking at getting one powder for all my lever rifles;30-30, .444, .300 savage, and .35. Is there one powder that would do well with ll of those cartridges?

That might be hard to do. Not impossible. If you do, stock up. Since I like my .30 Cals. I use alot of imr4895 and imr4064. Bought enough to last the rest of my life. For my pistols and revolvers. Plenty of red dot, bullseye and unique on hand.

Thanks I don’t know how many deer this gun has accounted for and along with bear and at least a couple of moose it’s kept the family feed for over a hundred years, gramps bought it new in 1905 at age 15 just before he left home It’s also been used in several shootouts with criminals back in the 20/30s, it has quite a history

the old 70s Remington rounds just sound different during a deer drive.
The rifle has no will of its own it may be used for evil but there are more good men than evil men and evil will be corrected by good men with rifles.
