I've seen some videos of snare loading.......and if the snare is even barely touched.....it drops immediacy and closes .........or is that not possible in real world

Through trial and error and in due time you may reach you're 100 % mark .
All cross unders are a bit different which in turn requires a bit of a different snares loop placement so with that being said with out standing at the crawl under its next to impossible to answer your question .
As for loaded snares I agree with Keith Gregerson when I load snares is when I put them in the box of the pickup ha ha I can hear all the got to load them bunch with their heads about to explode but it's really not needed to catch fur .

And watch for deer sign at that opening too. Not all of them jump over fences. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.

Thanks to everyone who's posted......I've determined snares.....along with foot hold sets .........are not for me dealing with coyote population on my property......will continue with my permanent location drop trap idea.......the snare at fence I was talking about was from a video.....will have to post you tube title if can find it again........is a Canadian who built a bait cage with 6 ft farm fence..... looks like 20 x20 ft with 3 or 4 holes cut and snares placed.......into which he throws carcass of skinned animals .......it's not worth dealing with trapped non target ....ferral and lost cats...dogs.....deer .....and compound the issue.....since I'm not a trapper

Thanks to members who have replied with useful information........I may be confusing you with the way I'm composing my posts and will try here to explain in detail what I'm trying to accomplish.....basically get rid of a few coyote on my property annually without hurting any other wildlife or domestic cats and dogs.......not being a trapper....my only experience is trapping with cage trap.... destructive groundhog who are dispatched.....racoon, possum, skunks in hay barn, I release further back in my woods....lately last several years coyote are building up and seen on my trail cam thru nite and sometimes in broad daylight in and around hay field actually hunting field mice and voles. I'm really fearful of being attacked since they grow more numerous and bold. Have been monitoring Boston Massachusetts news and coyote are attacking people and killing dogs........believe it's only a matter of time it will be the same here in ohio. Since being on this site I have figured out snaring and foot hold traps are out of my league and have idea of building permanent ferral hog trap...smaller scale...for live trapping coyote, being able to release unharmed other wildlife or local lost cats and dogs. Will probably not have it ready till end of winter, and will share its success or failure here.....hope this clears up what my posts are about and thanks for all the valuable information from your trapping know how and experiences.

Please do your research on free ranging dogs and cats (feral or domestic). They have been documented to do as much or more harm than native predators to wildlife populations. Cats killing songbirds are estimated at over 1.2 BILLION per year (U S Fish & Wildlife reports), not to mention the baby bunnies, snakes, squirrels, etc.. They are rarely killing for just a meal. They predate due to their DNA and will constantly continue. Dogs chase and kill deer, ground nesting birds, baby bunnies etc.. Their better noses and tendency to hunt with a friend make them extremely deadly.. Releasing accidental caught predators (raccoons, opossums, skunks) from a viewing site in hopes they will not return is not viable. I don't know how far you would have to go to get them to NOT TRY to return but in the mid 70's the Pest Control Officer at MSU (where I was chasing a sheepskin) caught a raccoon on campus and spray painted the tail blue. He drove out of East Lansing 16 miles and caught the same coon 2 nights later at the same trap site (Football Stadium). Being the only "Crazy" trapper in the wildlife classes he and i worked on a few situations. There are scientific studies done with telemetry equipment involving a lot of species indicating once relocated, many species will continue to try to return to a HOME RANGE until death, a "dispersal mechanism" or habitat change CAUSES them to vacate a desire to reach a HOME RANGE . So my 2 cents is to keep doing your reading and such on Free Roaming dogs and cats and include reviewing any relocation successes documented in the Science writings. . My experience........ the mike

Sniper BBB.......your saying I should dispatch all cage... in barn catches of racoon, possum, and skunk.........it's hard for me to do....don't want them in barn.......and don't want to end their life either

O K....you and sniperbbb have cleared things up....I think increase in my catches is due to homeowners releasing from the new subdivisions .......having me deal with retraping.....don't know if you have listened to Chicago wgn radio sundays @ 5AM the outdoors show......the host is always talking of the devastating effects of TNR trap neuter release.....that is getting more popular with ferral cats.......on migratory game foul numbers.

Here in Minnesota, nuisance animals have to be killed on the spot. #1. Relocating them just gives someone else your problem. #2. Our DNR says relocated coon don’t know the food sources or shelter sources. They get disoriented fast and are often hit by cars, etc, within a 100 ft of where they were released.
That being said, a released y-o-y will grow up and become a pain in someone’s rear by next year.
I’ve released fox in years where there was no market for them. The farmer didn’t mind as he liked seeing them. Found this out after I released #3.
Skunks, possums and coon all get dispatched as soon as possible. Cage caught animals do get taken off site to avoid bunny huggers crying over the need to dispatch.
Never too old to learn
