Something wrong with a man that wears earrings. Double wrong when he puts them in his chin. X3 when he ruins a classic 60's song.

if it's truly a beloved tune (original) to the listener, it's almost a "crime" to re-do it.

so, I think it's highly individualistic.

there are some exceptions, though...I love the Who's version of Mose Allison's Young Man's Blues, as performed on Live at Leeds.

And, although I still prefer the original Who version of Love, Reign O'er Me; I can appreciate Edge of Paradise's re-make...it is different enough, but still has the passion and flavor of the original.

I'm like Danny. Original and I don't like change usually. Nor holidays.

Really depends. Depends who is doing the cover, how many other times I've heard it covered, etc. sometimes covers are better...I like Old Crow Medicine Show's "Wagon Wheel" better than the original, and a lot better than the new one that's on the radio.

Here’s an example of what I’m asking.

The vocals and music are spot on except for the break. Does the saxophone make the song better for you or does it distract from your expectations?

That you Hobbie?, lol

They did a good job, kept the song pretty much the same as the original and the sax at the break didn't hurt anything and sounded good...that sax could use a dose of brasso though... grin

So changing the original isn’t a big deal, thank you.

Doesn't matter to me what they change or add, I'm not a fan of any covers at all. Bands become popular to me on their own merit not using some one else's creations !!

Don't care if it is country or rock, thats only what I listen to any way, all the other stuff is roughage !!

Not a fan of all the costumes, extra add on's either ! Just get up there and play !!

You already told us what you think, it’s being given consideration, not much but we get it. You can find another thread that will bring you some joy, this one ain’t for you.

It's still free advertising for the stealer, should not be able to make anything off of doing them !!

Any one that likes Disturbs cover on Sounds of Silence is Disturbed, LOL

Nope. No matter how you slice it, still Oscar Mayer. lol

I think everybody reading this thread (“we”) GET that “I'm not a fan of any covers at all” is your position.

Would you like to say it one more time for those that don’t read threads in their entirety?

Well Hobbie, would not want to give you a heart attack about it, looks like I did do a complete injustice to you asking for opinions
and answered fully the first time, won't ask for forgiveness, as I know your style here, so will just move on like you wish !

Maybe read a little better about your description of opinion you actually wish to have next time !!

Okay, thanks for stopping by and your opinion is noted, but just once for the purpose of this inquiry.
