Just thought this would be a food that is not affected by the inflation we see in grocery stores. Maybe roll the cracklings in a special breading. When I render the fat, it always smells a bit like rancid fried chicken. I can't imagine it would taste good. Let us know.

Yuck A better use for them, after skinning rub a little bird seed on the coon's back and lay it outside for the birds they love it After they have picked off the fat take it to a field and put it along the woods line to feed the bigger birds I like to put them where my mother can see the hawks and eagles from her house

I dont like cracklins but if I did I would try it. Animal is an animal. Some taste good some don’t .

Clean coon fat rendered cracklings are fine eating and the rendered grease is great for frying whatever.
We have a wild cooking demo on occasion at our state convention. A few years back, the cook rendered some coon fat and offered up the cracklings to the audience. They were gone in a hurry. He then fried up some bobcat steaks in the rendered oil. They did not last long either.
BTW, the rendered oil remains liquid at room temp and remains stable for a long time.
