Back at it. Testing the 3rd gland. Mixed it with the horse base and testing it side by side against the horse base by itself. Put out 4 test sets today.

I've heard that a bit of sweets in a getter formulation is valuable so after this final gland test I'll be moving on to the sweets. There are 4 sweets I'm planning to test at this point. One is honey and another is a preserved peach base I made.

I need to get back after it. I've been slacking as I've gotten into shooting and reloading in the last year and haven't done much with the lures other than making the formulations I already have. I'll try to get back after here in the next month. I really would like to add another tip shelf bait to my line up. I'll keep u posted as I get back after it.

I did test honey and molasses and found the molasses got a better reaction.

Like salts you need to watch using very much Molasses in cattle, sheep and livestock country/pastures in general even tho it may test well.

If you don't have livestock you should be ok. Throughout our state deer can be a real aggrivation when it comes to certain lures and baits with salts, tonquin and molasses.

Bob,

we don't have near the deer numbers where I am now.

Sure miss southwestern PA numbers!

Good point. My I just stay out the pastures to avoid the cows and away from the timber when coyote trapping to help avoid the coons, possum and deer. Seems for me deer and cows are attracted to everything I use.

I've never found a lure that deer won't investigate. I imagine molasses could be particularly bad, however.

I'm with you there. I truthfully can't find something that attracts coyotes well that won't attract every deer that smells it. But I figured that's just how my luck runs grin

It’s all bad.

If there’s livestock present, they’re gonna mess stuff up no matter what you use.
