I saw that winchester released a new rimfire round that's supposed to be a improved version of the 22 lr. What's your thoughts and has anyone tried it yet?

There’s a few gun guys on trap talk, maybe try asking over there too.

I've got a 17 wsm myself and it's pretty sweet. It fills a big gap between rimfires and centerfire.

Sounds like a gimmick, haven't had any issues with the ol' 22 doing the job since I was a kid. I remember there was a 5 mm I think it was and then the 17 mach 2 but neither were popular.

Dog faced pony soldier and proud of it!

I got the savage 17 wsm because I liked the " distance and numbers" it produces over a 22 or 22 mag
And supposedly the ammo being made along side its construction use in nail guns.
Well I am not seeing ammo at sportsmen whare house or out of stock at Midway. Disappointing indeed.
Not much experience with this round yet. Snowshoe rabbit hit was not pretty and the one fox I shot so far was bummed. Went to shoot it at very close range between the eyes looking at me,hit a little high and split that hide from ears to tail . Just need more time invested in the field. I like it knowing I can reach out to 100 yard and plus .not giving up yet on it.still have a 100 rounds. Will stock up on when they are available.

Improving the 22LR seems like a solution in search of a problem

I've got one of the Savage .17WSM's as well. I use it for predator calling. It's way to fast and explosive to use for dispatching critters in a trap in my opinion. It's an amazing little round though.

Agreed. The 22 can already do so much with the different types of ammo. From chickens to coyotes and wolves, a CB Long thumps into the chest nicely. Winchester should improve on the price to make their sales fly! How much are these things going to be, $40 a box?…lol
I do like my 17HMR though.

From what I understand, the new cartridge allows for a variety of bullet types to be loaded. The case does not have to be crimped into the bullet itself.
