No. I was born to cut timber, but for political reasons Sealaska quit logging our land in 2020...not gonna delve into that. Let's just say the Tongass roadless rule isn't helping us any

I can believe that. What would you rather do? I spend as much time cutting as I can. I used to tramp around going where the work was, so I'd spend 7-8 months in SE every year at home, then go cut in WA, OR, ID, MT, or CA for a few months until I heard rumors of a good timber sale around home again. Nowadays I'm less inclined to leave AK for many reasons (the L48 has never impressed me, but it's only gone downhill. And I'm married now, so working out of state doesn't appeal to me or the wife). Working on the slope isn't terrible, it's just a lot of hours and a lot of dumb rules. The union does provide some good benefits though, my pension is very healthy

How many of you nice folks have ever had the wonderful chance to come to Alaska? (That includes you, Savell ) Introduce them to Devils club. introduce them to the hordes of mosquitos!

… I’ll fist fight a polar bear … and come in first … kick a couple igloos over
… they likely name me king of their tribe after that You wouldn't stay long. Your Lone Star beer probably freezes at 40 degrees.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Thank you for my first laugh of today.

I've seen a lot of people move north and not be successful at it. Some of the best deals I've gotten on saws and guns were guys tramping out of camp and trying to buy a plane ticket back to wherever they came from There are alot of guys who think they can make it here, but when they actually get here, the realize what living here really means!
