Going tomorrow to pick up a squirrel dog she is 6 months old and treeing on her own guy I’m getting her from had knee surgery replacements and can’t hunt her so I was lucky my buddy told me about her I’ll send pictures tomorrow when I get her home now me and grandkids can spend more quality time together

It’s a short hair Laken from everyone I’ve talked to they are super good with people and great hunters

How does the dog actually help get the squirrel? Do they spot them up trees? Never met anyone with a squirrel dog before.

dog should tree the squirrel by sight.

They go by sight /sound and some by smell they tree the squirrel and bark when hunter shoots the squirrel then it’s off to locate another one it’s been 40 years since I had a tree dog due to working all the time but I finally have time now and it’s amazing how much pups cost and then you have started dogs that’s $1000.00 plus and finished dogs that are $3000.00 to $6500.00

I’m ready to pick her up and get her accustomed to us and when our sun comes back out and snow starts melting we can take her for a hunt our squirrels are denned up due to getting snow today and tomorrow

Never done it but that has to be a great time. But I think any kind of hunting with a dog is fun

Update :::: I get to pick her up on Monday afternoon the guy I’m getting her from had knee surgery and had to be admitted to the hospital for a infection talked to him today and he supposed to be released at noon tomorrow and he told me to come over around 2 and pick her up I’m pretty excited it’s been awhile since I’ve had a good tree dog

I think its great fun. I love squirrel meat. Around here they have competition money hunts with squirrel dogs.

They do down here also and dang the prices on a trained tree dog if they will even price them

Believe it or not, my squirrel dog was a Lhasa Opsa. She will go out tree one of the many squirrels on our 80 acres and wait for me to shoot it for her.
