That’s a decent price for marten.
The weather has been unusually warm lately, and the snow is wet. Since I’m not from the SE, I’m not too familiar with how to handle it. But I’ll keep trying! There's only one thing to do it warm weather: bring your towel!

Hydaburg is a Native village on the southwest side of Prince of Wales island. Lots of very proud Haidas that don’t take kindly to outsiders. I have a cabin down in that neck of the woods. I’ve been stolen from a number of times and at one point I had pictures and names of the people that stole from me, serial numbers from my washing machine that they were selling on FB… you would think it was a cut and dry case but the troopers refused to investigate due to tribal politics. Yep, I've learned the hard way that most (but not all) natives will steal anything they can get their hands on. Been broken into, home and car, got my wife's custom made parka, took my phone, Boots and winter gear, they will steal anything! I'm pretty disappointed but accustomed to it now. Have camera's everywhere, even turn it inward in the parked and locked truck. Tried to be polite and pleasant to them but it doesn't take.

Marten, fox, and lynx are all capable of walking right on the top of the snow. So who knows if they came by my sets or not. All you can do is try to set on location. After a few years you will know of certain areas you can set on.

Is there a good way to look for muskrat in Alaska? I know they're supposed to be around here but I for the life of me can't tell what signs I should be looking for in all this marshy areas around here. I haven’t gotten into muskrat trapping yet. But try looking for their push-ups on the snow.

Where theres cattails, etc. there should be muskrats around. Aren't any cattails in this area but there's definitely muskrats. Just having trouble locating them.

Also look around for a lot of grass on the edge of ponds or steams. I know they are usually in an area like that. Could this be some kind of run do you think? Or is it unrelated? Slap a funnell trap in there it will catch all the rats using that ditch if any.
