Stopped by James Lucero’s today. He’s sure enough a real deal wolfer. We talked for hours about lures, sets, and over all coyote killin. He’s 90 years old and can’t do lessons anymore but still does have some lure available. I’m not sure how much lure he makes anymore. But he did talk about how he would like to get Night Train going again, and how he’s trying to finish his new book. Mostly about sheep country and hard coyotes. I told him I’d buy a copy as soon as it’s finished! If you’re wanting to buy lure from him make sure to talk loud on the phone, his wife will be more than likely the one to answer. Also you can mail in a letter with what lures you would like. I use all 3 lures he has and had success. It’s always an honor to get to speak with him. He’s truly a coyote legend

Pretty sure I have all those plus NightTrain in an unopened box. A few years ago when I heard he wasn’t going to make anymore I ordered several of each, just incase he quit making them altogether.

I was out that way a couple of years ago turkey hunting and stopped by to see him. I also spent hours talking trapping and bow hunting with him and his son. He couldn’t get around very good from a recent back surgery but was looking forward to killing a deer with a bow he was building. I bet he would have been hard to keep up with in his younger years.

Definitely, he said it sure does suck being 90 years old, stove up and not being able to go out to the wilderness anymore
