This trap is another recent, auction purchase. I had never seen a trap made up of mostly cast iron, and since I collect both cast iron and traps, it became a must have!

I wasn't sure what to expect when it arrived. Man, was I surprised when I unboxed it. It's a big, heavy trap. Most certainly enough to handle wolves and lions? I'm not sure what these traps were made to trap. The drowner makes me think, beaver, but I'm also suspecting that the chain might have been altered?

I couldn't find too much information about the trap when searching online, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light on it? If you know anything about it, please share what you know, here?

Thanks - No.4

I did another search, and came up with this link to a thread found here on Trapperman;

https://trapperman.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/6504015/all/helfrich-traps

According to information found in the thread, my trap is a model 750B (beaver model), and the chain is correct. Nice to know.

Carl, I think it could hold me to the bottom for my quick demise.

Yeah, it appears that I have the beaver model, Buck. Now, I'll have to find an example of the wolf model.

I know where there is a wolf model and have tried to buy it a couple of times. The gentleman just won't do it.

Maybe he'll trade for something?

I thought the Wolf model was identical except for a longer chain.

As far as I know, that's the only difference, but I may not know far enough.

The Beaver model has a short chain and a drownder, the wolf model has a 5' chain and heavier springs. If you compare them, the Wolf springs are bigger. I have a #750 with two of each springs on the same trap.

Wolf springs on the left, Beaver springs on the right.

It's got a different type of chain too.
