I only have dial up Internet service and it is very slow. Your post was worth the wait. I'm and old coyote trapper myself and would have set it up a whole lot the same. You starting coyote and red fox trappers pay close attention there's a world of information to be learned. I've been trapping coyotes for the most part of 30 years and have notice places I should have been setting. See you are never to old to learn new things. GREAT POST!

Here's a question on the same location which I did not have time to look at the others. Where do you believe the coyotes transient ones are going to and from?
How about an idiots guide to posting from google.

Maps are good starting point and help explain what is going on sometimes. After you get a general idea of where o look you have to put in some foot work.

I'll let you in on a few secrets.

First, for some reason, coyotes like to mess with horses. If you pull the map up (I'm not at home so I can't right now) and look at the intersection of Township Rd. and 925 (Petesburg Rd), you will see a pasture. This pasture has quite a few horses in it.

If you follow Petersburg Rd. down just south of Burke Rd. you will see a house. This house has a huge fenced in yard.......she raises CATS. Has like 40-50 cats in the yard. I have driven by her house late at night and seen 3-4 coyotes pacing her fence trying to get to those cats (she puts them in full enclosure at night).

I think the coyotes funnel from a very large woods/swamp, located near the highway up north, into these residentual areas. Then they work their way to the river bottoms. They harrass these domestics along the way. When they retreat from yards and pastures they follow the first ditch which just happens to be this one.

Fox Catcher, this might be hard, but where would you set up on these pics?

First pics, the red are diversion ditches and the yellow is the highest spot on the map.

The second pic shows some trails and little funnel points. The trail closest to the top goes through the woods and the one to the left is a little road that connects the two fields and the trail at the bottom goes into the woods a bit and comes out at a big opening.

The tp picture is a little easier then the bottom pic.

Remember looking at a map gives you a good place to START. Putting feet to ground confirms your decision.

If those small ditches don't go all the way to thewood line this iswere I start looking for sign.

This pic is a little tougher. I would like to see this map expanded out just a smidgion more. It looks like there are more promising places on the left and right (near the farm) sides.

Is the blue line some form of water?? If so does the red path have a bridge of some sort over the water and how deep is th water?

From just looking at the map this is what I came up with
