Well the big storm finally came into my area. Started before sun-up with some rain and a wind from the N-NW gusting to maybe 60MPH. Now at 1 PM some sleet and little bit of snow along with constant 40 MPH (or more) winds. I am getting tired of watching TV, reading, and "surfing the webb". Guess I'll go out to my workshop (it's heated) and build a couple birdhouses or duck boxes or something. I really wanted to be welding on tomato cages I sell, but it's too cold for open shed welding. I am in SE Nebraska. We are not to get too much snow here. How is everyone else doing in the blizzard dept today???

blizzard...haha. Its about 85 here and we just got in from trying to finish planting the garden.

Was planning on putting in the garden today but rain soaked ground from the storms last night kept me from it. Would have went to the 2A support rally in Little Rock but had to pick up daughter from work at the same time it was starting. Instead sitting here bored wishing I had traps to run or something.

Hauling wood for the boiler that should be for next year! Just bust a few drifts to get there and it's some wet stuff a lot of melting snow from yesterday to deal with.
Feed/water the chickens and feed the Mama cat in the coop that has 3 little ones since she can't come and go like she could before the storm hit.
Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

So far the high point of my day has been when I went to start my truck, parking lot ice skating, step out from behind the building and I'm away on the wind! Had to take the long way around back in, couldn't make any headway against the wind. Somebody should have been videoing that cartoon.
Not as bad as I could be, not as good as I should be.

Just got power back on at 4:30PM. Pole blew down west of the house at 6:30 last evening. Pole is still down and wires broke, but a few years ago they put disconnects on both ends of the line. I can get power from either end. Glad they finally remembered to switch it over.  Spent the afternoon helping the neighbor boys wiring a generator to their the house well, so their mom could flush the toilets.  Filled up some water jugs so I could flush mine. Brought them in the house and the lights came on.  "Global Warming" my arse.  Charlie

Basically been watching tv, snacking, napping and surfing the net on and off. Snow quit here about two hours ago. Just blowing and getting colder now. Going to wait until tomorrow to move any snow. Hoping it'll move easier tomorrow as it gets colder overnight.
Just livin' the dream...and paying full price for it!

I got tired of being locked up inside. Made a wood duck box but even that did not keep my interest. Went for a drive along the creek valley. Saw a flock of turkeys (couple long beards and about 7 hens) standing off the wind in a creek bottom next to the road. Looked pretty miserable to me. Glad I still have my tag in the envelope and not worried about chasing a gobbler till the weather warms up...... if the weather warms up someday!!! Looks like SE Nebraska might have dodged a bullet. The wrap around is still north of us but does seem to be breaking up a little.

laid out the addition on my buddy house today, had a time getting it squared with the wind bowing the strings so bad.
calling for us to get 1 1/2 inches of rain sunday.
