I just found this shot placement photo on another hunting forum and thought it was pretty good; pretty clever idea. Thought some of you black bear hunters might be interested.

That is a good pic. When presented with a side shot I always put the bullet behind the shoulder joint.I always try to avoid the heavy bones in the shoulder area as there are no vitals there and bears are tough and can run away with a broken leg or shoulder and not leave much blood trail. I put the bullet thru the front part of the rib cage behind the leg. This leaves a good blood trail and you wont have to follow very far. When shot thru the ribs a bear often takes off like it has not been hit.A bear hit in the shoulder bones will often drop, then get up and run off, with a small chance of recovery. If I see a bear drop when shot,I always take another shot right away.
A neck shot is a good shot on a bear, but a much smaller target area.It will drop him stone cold(same as a head shot).
I wont usually take a head or neck shot,as poor placement on the smaller target can cause an animal to not be recovered and suffer.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Love it! Still like back corner of the scapula. A shot a couple inches left-right, up or down is all still lethal.

I always go half way up the shoulder and just behind it. I really like a slight quartering away shot so you can break that off shoulder and knock him off his feet for a few seconds

That round spot above the heart is where I send an arrow.
Bout 50 bow bear and seldom make it 35 yards

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.
