Had these saved , they are stats posted last year for each county.
Bobcat stats include trapping and hunting .
Take into account the numbers that were registered with county of harvest unrecorded also .

Otter

Fisher

Bobcat

Very interesting info!

We have been hearing for many years about the decline of fisher in the north as that is where they were replanted. The fisher population is probably the most definitive line that follows a curve from northeastern WI to central forest and up to the northwest and follows the forest- ag line pretty close. They are adjusting well to broken forest, crop land and human populations. There is also almost like a barrier to going south where numbers drop off quickly. They have the ability to move further as they have migrated south from the north very successfully in their preferred zone. Being aggressive like they are they may be at risk in the areas where wolves are doing well even if they can climb.

I would think more otters are caught then the numbers say.

I go to Sawyer Co. every year for vacation. And I see otters almost every year. And there was only 29 caught??

That don't sound right!

I would say it's in the top 10 county's.
Have to remember 38 otter registered had no county stated when registered.
Maybe their not targeted as much there either.
Many trappers don't have to leave the county they live in ,to go to Sawyer , no matter how many are there .

2018 stats will be something to see as everyone that applied got a tag and some got 2 .
