Has anyone come up with a good system or good material for covering rat traps set outside?

For voles, we cover the traps with 2X3 inch vinyl downspout material that we get at Home Depot, and this works great. But the rat traps won't fit under the same covers.

We have been using the Protecta bait station boxes, but they cost $10 apiece, and only fit a single rat trap. I would like to set rat traps in the same type of set up as we use for voles, but I have been having a hard time finding a suitable cover.

Anyone have any ideas?

Here's what we do for the voles...

They make downspout in larger sizes, I think they may make a 4X6. I would try talking to a gutter install company. That stuff is special order, not off shelf at home depot. just an idea.

Get a roll of 12" 'valley tin',and form it over the edge of your work bench,if you dont have access to a sheet metal brake.

Thanks, guys, those are both great suggestions, but being basically lazy by nature, I was hoping to find an "off the shelf product' that would work. I have found the larger size downspouts in aluminum, but really like the platsic ones for ease of cleaning and ease of cutting and drilling.

anyway, we will get something to work.

If anyone has found anything cheap and effective, let me know.

Thanks

Hey Nic, thanks a lot. Those hollow fake logs looked promising, but a bit pricey. But that got me thinking in the right direction, and I think I found something that will work great.

Those posts should do the trick Steve! I think those fake logs would be the ultimate but you are right they are pricy...

Steve, a gutter supply company will have downspouts in 3 x 4" size.

Looked at these yesterday while on a trip to Lowes. Should be perfect as covers for rat traps as is or with one side removed to pin the traps in place.. Split lengthwise could also be used as covers for snake boards.

I use Bait Stations, with a rat trap down the middle. They work for me, for chipmunks, rats, mice, and voles. They look allot better on your customers lawn too. Plus they have keyed entry, so your customers can't take them out their selves and you think it's a miss set. Here's a couple links man.
