I ordered a bunch of fur handeling items the other night and a question popped into my head what tempature does it take to dry out coons on boards? I was planning on just fleshing and drying in my noninsulated pole barn would this still be okay? Inside the barn is still a little warmer than whatever the outside temp will be. Thanks!

Anything above freezing...but the process goes quicker if you have a heated building. If you can have a fan going, it would greatly help.

I just hang mine out in the shop and let them freeze dry.

Like said above I always have a fan running if I have fur in the shed~

How do you do this freeze drying? Is it just letting them hand in the cold?

It's not necessarily the temp but the humidity that dries...or doesn't.

Even if 90 degrees it won't dry at 100% humidity.

It's just what ever the outside temp is. It does take longer, but you don't have the expense of heat. On cats and coyotes, I will hang them in the basement when they are on the stretcher fur in. But once I turn them they go out to the shop.
