i charge $2/lb hanging weight, and still have problems finding buyers sometimes. I don't make much at this price but I like raising our cattle! mainly use for ourselves and my inlaws, sometimes we sell 1/4. we have 3 that we held back to finish, we'll see how those sell

Yes , all the extra chewing and begging people to eat grass fed beef is great exercise. How ever if you want real grass fat beef, you will get it during the grass flush months of june and july. People selling grass fed beef in the winter or early spring are just selling tough ole hay fed critters.

Good corn fed beef right now should bring atleast 2.05 a lb.hanging. That is whole sale price. Our corn price today is 3.31 delivered to the elevator.

Haha! I'm with you on grass fed vs grass fat. There is a huge difference between the two and the super lean, chewy beef marketed as grass fed makes it a challenge to market real grass fat cattle. I have not produced true grass fat beef yet but it is a long term goal.
