May need to change the dog food. Our boxer if they had high protein feed would get hot spots. One of our bullies are like that as well.

If you have clippers, shave the area. They respond better to treatment when the area is allowed to breathe. I have treated some by myself just simply by clipping, cleaning with iodine or even just a mild soap and water. Pat dry gently and then you can apply hydrocortisone cream twice daily. Try to keep pet from licking the area

My older, male lab just had one on the side of his face. It was aggravated by my younger female lab constantly licking it and him scratching at it. I shaved the hair over it and around the area and was applying an antibacterial spray three times a day. It took about a week,l but it cleared up.

They sell hotspot spray over-the-counter.

Hot spots or acute moist dermatitis are usually some overreaction of some sort of allergen or stimuli, often it’s a bug bite. Drying them up and breaking the itch cycle is crucial for their healing. Which is why we usually use an oral steroid. And sometimes a powder with a steroid. Called Neo Predef if you can find somewhere without a prescription but that may not be possible

Thanks for the help. Im guesing it was a bug bite, spend last weekend in the woods. My son and I got chiggers! So dog might have? Dont know if chiggers like dogs?

I used to use Adams hot spot salve on my hounds and curs. Not sure if it is even made anymore. Had kind of a clove smell to it

My bull dog used to get them bad and we were giving him 4-6 shots a year for allergies. I started making his dog food and feeding him raw and low and behold he cleared up and we haven't had to give him a shot but once this year and that was because he had ear infection. It's worth trying for a month to see if it helps.

Only effective home treatment I ever found came from a full page add in the TPC in the mid nineties. Definitely had Cloves as an ingredient and worked fantastic.

Swimming in salt water usually fixed my labs.... Zyvox ear medicine works pretty good too, it has a steroid in it, but you need to clip the area to help dry it out.
